UK small business minister Mark Prisk stopped by at the NWAA stand this morning during the first day of the Paris Air Show.
The minister took time out of his schedule to meet Martin Wright, NWAA chief executive, and Neil McKay, chairman (above). They discussed topics including the future requirements of the industry, skills development and the need to encourage investment in the aerospace sector.
Meanwhile, NWAA member Silcoms, the Bolton engineering company which is exhibiting on the NWAA stand, announced a major new contract.
Silcoms has signed a five year deal worth up to £4million with German aero engine manufacturer MTU Aero Engines. The contract will see the company supply machined engine rings for the PW1000G (A Pratt & Whitney engine) for both the Bombardier C-Series and Mitsubishi Regional Jets.
Tonight the NWAA will be flying the flag for the North West aerospace sector at reception events hosted by the UK industry representatives in Paris, and the Canadian embassy.
Keep checking back to see more updates from Paris, throughout the week.
