Greetings from Paris

Posted by: Lorna Waterworth Category: Paris 2009 Date: Monday, June 15, 2009

Despite awful weather conditions, industry figures turned out in force today for the opening of the Paris International Air Show.

The NWAA stand has been constantly busy, with a lot of debate and support for the ASCE (Aerospace Supply Chain Excellence) programme. The meeting room and our tables have been busy throughout the day.

We have also had a lot of discussion with companies outside the North West region wanting to work within it. This is fantastic news, and great that the North West’s profile is such that it can attract inward investment in this way.

We have also had numerous commercial officers representing foreign countries come to visit us – so far India, Malaysia, France and the US have all taken an interest in the work of the NWAA – and representatives from the University of Pennsylvania have spoken to us about our work in the supply chain, and the ASCE programme.

Monday will be finished off with a visit by a number of the NWAA team to the official UK reception this evening, at the Ambassador’s residence in Paris.

Welcome to Plane Chat, the new blog of the North West Aerospace Alliance.

We will be updating this blog throughout the course of the Paris International Air Show, bringing readers the latest news and views from what is one of the world’s foremost trade shows for the industry.

With hundreds of thousands of visitors, the show is a fantastic platform for the NWAA to shout about the achievements of the North West supply chain. Despite the economic downturn, the event – now in its centenary year – has proven as popular as ever.

During the week-long show I will be addressing an audience of top industry figures at our event, ‘Aerospace Supply Chains of the Future.’ The NWAA firmly believes that its creation of a world class supply chain model sets the standard that we are driving to make available globally.

Feel free to comment on any of the articles you see published here, and I hope everyone enjoys reading.

See you in Paris,

Martin Wright
