Shared services

The NWAA has announced a major new shared services contract with logistics giant Unipart

The £1.3 million contract, over two years, is believed to be an aerospace sector first. It will see NWAA members working together to improve their purchasing power and secure better deals on everything from utility services and stationery to specialist advice services such as legal and HR.

It will officially begin early next year, and will initially be piloted with 45 North West based aerospace companies, with the aim of rolling out to cover all NWAA membership and beyond in the future.

The project will be supported by a bespoke, ‘one-stop shop’ website which will enable companies to order goods online from a number of suppliers, increasing purchasing efficiency.

The contract forms part of the work of the Aerospace Supply Chain Excellence Programme 2 (ASCE 2), launched last year by the NWAA with £6.5 million funding from the Northwest Regional Development Agency (NWDA) and the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).

The announcement has been featured on a number of news websites: Logistics Manager, The Manufacturer, The Engineer, Insider, Supply Chain Standard, and the Manchester Evening News.

The NWAA is supporting the Bamber Bridge charity for two years, and has so far raised more than £4,000 through a series of charity events such as its annual charity ball.

The £1,500 cheque is the second the NWAA has handed over this year, after donating £2,500 to the charity in the spring.

All the money donated will go towards supporting Sue Ryder Care in the North West which provides care to people living with conditions such as Multiple Sclerosis, Huntington’s Disease, stroke-related illness and cancer in the region.
